Watercolour Sketching – under the Spanish Winter Sun
27/02/2025 @ 18:00:02/03/2025 @ 18:00
195,00€Something new for 2025! When I first saw photos of this colourful place I felt compelled to add it to my sketchbook one day!
Join me for a long weekend sketching in and around the beautiful Port of Mogán located on the southerly side of Gran Canaria. This small port town is an old fishing neighbourhood which has become one of the most attractive places in the Canaries. The canals and bridges of its seawater inlet have earned it the nickname “Little Venice.” Along the marina, you’ll find an assortment of restaurants and bars, while the old town area is full of quaint, Mediterranean homes and cottages climbing up the hillside. As a bonus, the temperatures in February are usually around 20-23ºC – considerably warmer than many other countries further north, including the south of France!
50€ discount for bookings before 12 December 2024!
In these 3 days Friday to Sunday we will have great fun sketching the architecture, the boats and the impressive panoramas and features of this island forged by volcanoes. We’ll explore use of colour and composition to capture the vibrant and dramatic vistas, plus some alternative techniques when sketching in and around the market and the port. Before moving to France I lived and worked in the Canary Islands, so I’d love to share with you some special places to enjoy local cuisine and culture too!
This special weekend of colour and creativity begins on Thursday evening with an optional evening drink to meet the group and talk about plans for the coming days.
From Friday through to Sunday afternoon we will be sketching throughout the day and there will be a short break for lunch. The group may wish to eat together in the evening but that is not part of the workshop and you are free to make your own arrangements.
