Discover the ‘Rome’ of France in this 3 day sketching adventure that includes a trip to sketch the stunning Pont du Gard 🤩.

Nîmes is situated between the Mediterranean Sea and Cevennes Mountains, and later in summer is one of the warmest cities in France. With several famous monuments and ancient Roman buildings, including the famous Arena, the city is often referred to as the “French Rome.”  Not only that, but it has a bustling café culturen classic French architecture and gardens dating back to the 18th century.  It is easy to get to, with a train station a very short walk from the city centre.

This lively and creative weekend is suitable for people with some or no art experience.  Every workshop day is different, with new techniques and opportunities to learn at every step.  On one of the days we will drive out to Le Pont du Gard, an impressive aquaduct that used to carry water across the small Gardon river valley.  It is one of the world’s best preserved Roman aqueduct bridges and now a UNESCO world heritage site.

Each sketching day starts at 9.30am ending approximately 3.30pm after a short break for lunch.

Transport recommendations:
Fly to Nîmes with Ryanair or Montpellier, Marseille, Béziers or Perpignan.
Closest rail station: Nîmes – which is within walking distance of the city centre

What to bring:

Additional notes:
There will be some walking up and down hills and steps, so please wear comfortable footwear and bring a waterproof in the event of inclement weather.

Price for 3 days sketch tuition including a visit to Le Pont du Gard : 325€ per person
The tuition price excludes meals, transport and accommodation.
