There are a multitude of reasons why it's not always possible to join a workshop or sketching holiday - so a range of short videos and tutorials are now available so that we can sketch together - virtually!
Here are some useful details to help you get started
Where are the videos?
All the workshop videos are in a VIP area for members so you simply need to sign-up and create a username and password to join (joining is free!).
What topics are covered in the videos?
Everything and anything! The online workshops aim to be a virtual version of the ones we do together on location. My goal is to help you enjoy your time sketching and feel a more confident artist. Working through different drawings, paintings and other experiments you will get to know the materials you need, discover new techniques, learn a host of observational drawing tricks and find out more about use watercolour in traditional and unusual ways. Put simply, these workshops are a fast-track to help you learn a wide range of sketching skills; and by exploring different approaches and working on a variety of subjects, not only will you create some super artwork - but you will discover your own personal style - all from the comfort of your own home!
What sketching experience do I need?
To get started - none! These workshops are step-by-step guides and ideal if you would like to build your sketching confidence at home. Your personal 'virtual classroom' is not visible to anyone else and you will be able to ask for feedback and support at every stage via email and the website, or through the private Facebook group.
What materials do I need?
At the very least you will need some paper and/or a sketchbook and a pen or pencil. Almost all workshops have some modules using colour and within the details for each workshop a list of suggested materials is given. If you need one, a starter sketch kit can be purchased on the website here. The materials listed for many of the online tutorials are similar to the items we use in local workshops.
How do I view the videos?
Once registered for a workshop (free or purchased) you have unlimited access to the tutorials. The videos are only available through the VIP membership area, so all you need is an internet connection. Some video modules are available immediately, others may have release dates (ie on a weekly basis). If a workshop is 'progressive' you will need to complete one lesson or module before moving onto the next.
Do I have to work through the workshop videos all in one go?
No, not at all! An advantage of online workshops is that you can do them at any time of day or night There are no deadlines so you can dip in and out of each module at times that suit you best, and repeat any videos as many times as you need to. There is no limit on when and how many times you can view each video.
How do I purchase a workshop?
If there is a course fee you can pay securely by credit card via third-party processors Paypal or Stripe. You do not need a Paypal account to use Paypal.
Can I buy an online workshop as a gift?
Yes of course, you simply need to provide me with the email address of the recipient and the date you would like them to receive access to the course.
What is the Facebook group?
The Facebook group is a private friendly space available to VIP members to share work and ask questions, give support to fellow students and so on. I also use it to post additional videos, share useful links and answer questions. You can request to join it here: http://facebook.com/groups/annettemorris.art
I hope that these answer a few of your queries, but if you have any other questions please do email me annette@amsketching.com !
I just love my learning experiences with Annette, both virtually on zoom and her daily sketching prompts on facebook. She demonstrates techniques and explains how to best work with various media, including watercolour paints and crayons. For anyone who has an interest in improving their skills, or would like to embark on a new hobby, I would thoroughly recommend that you follow Annette’s wonderful examples and, when possible join a zoom class.

I enjoyed it very much. I am familiar with Annette’s teaching style and so I was able to sketch along, but I think that would be possible if not familiar. The follow-up video allows another attempt at the learner’s pace and also further practice.
Etchr Mini Workshop - November 2021
What a superb tutorial!
I found Annette’s method of teaching very easy to follow .
I was really happy with my finished sketch and look forward to the next one.

I live in southern France and I’m fortunate to have been able to participate in several of Annette’s workshops, from a half-day to several days. I enjoy her style of teaching, not prescriptive and encouraging to all levels. In the course of the last five years I have learned a huge amount about sketching and watercolours from her and I believe I’ve improved hugely. Even though I live here I’ve learned much about the area through Annette’s local knowledge. If you’re visiting the area it’s a great way to get to know it and make some holiday memories. Next month I’m joining her workshops at Collioure further south on the coast. I’m looking forward to it very much.
