USk Languedoc-Roussillon – Quarante
For details see the Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/urbansketcherslanguedoc/events
Sitting high on a hill surrounded by vineyards, Quarante has a medieval centre with narrow cobbled streets and an impressive church. It has all the charm a French village should have – plus a boulangerie, village shop, a couple of cafés and of course, a winery. There is an excellent restaurant within walking distance, plus a post office, several grocery shops, and a pharmacy in the village centre.
Located not far from the Canal du Midi, the village benefits Monday to Saturday from a direct bus service through to Béziers, where you can get a train, or a plane, to travel further afield.

Join me to sketch life in France as it happens in and around this charming wine-making village where I live. This is the time of the grape harvest - the days are warm and the vineyards are buzzing with activity as local winemakers seize the moment to pick the grapes. Soak up the atmosphere and fill your sketchbook with images of local views, people, food, old cobbled streets, buildings and markets. I'll share ink and watercolour techniques for both beginners and more experienced travel sketchers - loads of fun with line and colour!
