Café Deco 11 Place Ferrer, Capestang

A collection of my watercolours and sketches for sale of Capestang and the surrounding area. The café is open 8am - 1.00pm / 2.30pm - 5.00pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday.

New exhibition !! 📣📣📣. i’m very excited to share with you that a collection of my original watercolours and selected prints are currently available at La Maison Romane - Capestang (also the oldest building town!) The exhibition is open every day except Mondays until 14 June. During my recent visit to Mogán I was delighted to meet up with members of USk Gran Canaria (thank you @misspatriland for the photos!) 😊 It was an extremely warm day, but I found a shady corner in a small but very busy plaza to do this quick sketch. I discovered later I was sat next to a shrine to Saint Rita of Cascia, patron saint of the impossible! Urban sketching for me is much more than lines and colours on paper - it's an ongoing journey of learning and connection, seeing things differently and finding inspiration from the ordinary. There are endless possibilities for growth and joy - I'm sure St Rita would agree 😉

A quick video I recorded just before we started sketching on Friday ! This was my first trip to Gran Canaria in many years and it brought back several memories of living in the Canary Islands many years ago 😎 We enjoyed a lovely few days filling pages in our sketchbooks, enjoying the weather, food and local culture. So much inspiration! I have plenty of sketches to finish and scan!
This was the first time I have hosted a workshop in this location, but unlikely to be the last 😊

Happy February! Later this month I am heading off to somewhere a bit warmer and will be hosting a wonderful short sketching break in the beautiful Puerto de Mogán in the Canary Islands. Known as 'the Venice of Spain' this colourful town in southern Gran Canaria offers an endless list of sketching subjects 🌟. Impressions Expressions - a new pop-up exhibition *this weekend* 🤩 Saturday and Sunday I'm delighted to be displaying a selection on my artwork at a new community arts venue - Prades Créatif. Watercolour sketching on location certainly has its challenges! I was so looking forward to sketching at Château de Sériège for #uskweek2024, but .... it started to rain ... a lot!! After an hour or so there was barely any colour left on my paper it had all been washed away... 😬
However all was not lost, the lovely local café was open so it was a fun sketch over coffee instead. My Château sketch may have almost disappeared but it was still a wonderful morning 😊

International Urban Sketchers Week starts today! An annual event 1-7 May to celebrate drawing on location, being part of a community, seeing and experiencing the world from a unique and perhaps new perspective.
For our local meet-up this morning we had a beautiful location, but also and unfortunately as it turned out, non-stop and VERY heavy rain!!! Even so, some of us still showed up and made memories in our sketchbooks (even if very quickly and from inside the car!) 🤣

"Purple Rain" - a favourite painting and sold to a very special home ❤️ The view is based on a main street not far from me in Narbonne, the joy was creating this with a minimal colour palette and lots (and lots) of water. More new works in the pipeline 🤩

I was recently contacted by a writer for ‘La Dépêche’ who was compiling an article listing art courses and workshops available across this region of France. A few phone calls later and we found ourselves chatting by the Canal du Midi not far from where I live. I'm super excited to be participating in this event this weekend 🤩 It looks all set to be an action-packed weekend of sketching and socialising whilst discovering the intercultural city of Strasbourg. I'll also be giving a workshop for Urban Sketchers on Sunday morning! Not only that, but I will finally meet the other members of the @urbansketchers Executive Board in-real-life.
