Sketch Workshop at Café Deco

Café Deco 11 Place Ferrer, Capestang

This short indoor workshop is ideal for anyone who is interested in sketching with watercolour but does not know where to start!
All materials will be available so you will not need your own, but if you have a sketchbook then please do bring it along.
35€ per person includes a drink and a cake. Places are limited.

Impressions Expressions - a new pop-up exhibition *this weekend* 🤩 Saturday and Sunday I'm delighted to be displaying a selection on my artwork at a new community arts venue - Prades Créatif. This is a joint exhibition with a fabulous Franco-American artist and sculptor who lives just around the corner from me - our work is extremely different but we share so many creative values!

Watercolour sketching on location certainly has its challenges! I was so looking forward to sketching at Château de Sériège for #uskweek2024, but .... it started to rain ... a lot!! After an hour or so there was barely any colour left on my paper it had all been washed away... 😬
However all was not lost, the lovely local café was open so it was a fun sketch over coffee instead. My Château sketch may have almost disappeared but it was still a wonderful morning 😊

International Urban Sketchers Week starts today! An annual event 1-7 May to celebrate drawing on location, being part of a community, seeing and experiencing the world from a unique and perhaps new perspective.
For our local meet-up this morning we had a beautiful location, but also and unfortunately as it turned out, non-stop and VERY heavy rain!!! Even so, some of us still showed up and made memories in our sketchbooks (even if very quickly and from inside the car!) 🤣

"Purple Rain" - a favourite painting and sold to a very special home ❤️ The view is based on a main street not far from me in Narbonne, the joy was creating this with a minimal colour palette and lots (and lots) of water. More new works in the pipeline 🤩

I was recently contacted by a writer for ‘La Dépêche’ who was compiling an article listing art courses and workshops available across this region of France. A few phone calls later and we found ourselves chatting by the Canal du Midi not far from where I live. I'm super excited to be participating in this event this weekend 🤩 It looks all set to be an action-packed weekend of sketching and socialising whilst discovering the intercultural city of Strasbourg. I'll also be giving a workshop for Urban Sketchers on Sunday morning! Not only that, but I will finally meet the other members of the @urbansketchers Executive Board in-real-life. Phew! Here's my desk after teaching a live online workshop this evening hosted by @shopkeeparty. 'The mission' was to simplify this complex scene of beautiful Roquebrun overlooking the river Orb. Not so easy within a short timescale but I was joined by some wonderful artists and the results I've seen so far are awesome 🤩 Huge thanks to everyone who painted along and registered for the workshop - and John of course for hosting!! One fun final storming sketch together to capture the atmosphere of the busy whizzy Place de la Bastille! Overlooked by the gilded Genie de la Liberté we said some au revoirs and our wonderful adventure started coming to a close 😔 So many special memories and friendships created and sketchbook pages still to be shared - we are all going home with buckets of inspiration not to mention the hundreds of photos 😂😍
