Today we drove 2hrs to Capestang for a lesson with Annette Morris. Sketching and watercolor is not my forte but life forces change.

So I sat on a camping chair in the old cobbled street in Capestang and sketched one of the oldest buildings in the area. Annette next to me guiding me, as I pushed through my block of sketching . And I loved every minute .

Annette is a great teacher since she explains everything clearly and simply. She imparts a sense of fun and helps even beginners feel self-confident. I have done an online class, as well as an in-person class on location, with Annette. Both were excellent!

The instructor did an excellent job explaining her process and my initial drawing proportions were better than usual for me. I will try her techniques on other drawings.

I spent a wonderful day in Montpellier at one of Annette’s beginner workshops. I’m amazed at how much I learned in just a few hours. Annette is a great teacher and really made me feel comfortable – I have gone from thinking « I just can’t draw », to « I CAN, and it’s fun! ». Annette gave so many useful little tips along the way, which made all the difference to my feeling capable and wanting to continue sketching. Added bonus: I now have a lovely souvenir of the beautiful Montpellier architecture!

I thoroughly recommend Annette’s informal courses. Great for beginners like me. I took art at school but that’s where it stopped. Thanks for the encouragement Annette

Just home after an amazing sketching trip to Paris with Annette and a fabulous group. Can’t recommend this trip highly enough! It was a brilliant experience seeing Paris as a sketcher. Lots of opportunities for quick sketches, photographs, interspersed with sightseeing whilst walking and bus trips but plenty of stops for refreshments at some fantastic cafés and restaurants. Annette made the weekend such a special experience with attention to detail, making sure we had a memorable trip seeing lots of what Paris has to offer and have many lovely memories – and sketches- of a great weekend. Looking forward to adding to my sketchbook now that I’m home. Thank you so much Annette 🧑‍🎨🇫🇷

I greatly enjoyed the relaxed workshop in Carcassonne with Annette this morning. I learned a lot and I’m re-inspired to do some sketching. Thank you!

I went with very low expectations but a secret hope that I might actually be able to do this – Annette said everyone can draw – and she is right!! I did and I can!! Thank you Annette for giving me the confidence to just go for it . We were so lucky that we had a beautiful sunny day (and a fab lunch sitting outside ) Lagrasse is a fabulous location to sketch too.. Annette makes you feel totally at ease and it was lovely to go with 3 other fun lovely women too ! Looking forward to more classes please soon

Thanks for a lovely couple of days sketching. I really appreciated exploring different styles with you, it’s helped to open my eyes to other ways of sketching and rejuvenated my delight.

I spent the weekend sketching with Annette and a lovely group of women. I’m an absolute beginner and Annette was so helpful, a great teacher and a very talented artist who has inspired me to sketch and water colour and its now my new favourite thing to do. ☺️

We spend 2 wonderful days urban sketching in Montpellier ( a week ago) with Annette and a small crew of like minded artists. I don’t know any one more passionate about what they do than Annette. She inspires and will give you confidence, with a good measure of guidance to start or build on your art journey.
On that note, Urban sketching is a way to introduce you to new places, discover new foods and make new friends. And unbeknown to you, you will inadvertently discover that you bring happiness to those around you. People will peer at your work and make comments (sometimes) , others will want to take a photo of you sketching .. and I think you become an inspiration to others who would like to do the same.
So do yourself a favour .. get off the merry go round and indulge in the pleasure of Urban sketching …

I would go anywhere in the world with Annette’s sketch group! Such a magical and unique experience getting to explore a city through the lens of sketching with people from all over the world. From logistics to art instruction, Annette does a wonderful job leading the workshop. I learned so many new things and I will undoubtedly sketch and see the world in a new way after this trip. Thank you for the wonderful experience. Unforgettable!

Many thanks to Annette for a great introduction to sketching last Saturday in Montpellier. A day packed with information, advice and encouragement. A much needed boost to my confidence. Can’t wait for the next one!

I recently joined Annette’s sketching weekend in Carcassonne. I go sketching every now and then but I’ve always felt a little bit uneasy with watercolour, despite how much I like it. Annette met me where I was at and tailored her guidance and choice of subjects based on what I was keen to experiment with. I got to try many different ways of approaching a watercolour painting, some of which I wasn’t even aware of! Thanks to her excellent guidance, actionable tips, and infectious love for bold colours, I can’t wait to get out there sketching again (with watercolour, of course!). Sketching locations in Carcassonne are excellent, ranging from medieval structures to cute cafes and restaurants. Annette is a lovely human whose passion for sketching and for sharing her craft is truly inspiring. I look forward to joining another one of her workshops in the hopefully not-too-distant future!

Still buzzing nearly a week after Springtime in Paris with Annette. Excelled all my expectations and if you want Paris to get into your soul, and not just be a tourist, this is the way to do it! It’s exciting, exhilarating and enlightening and I recommend a good pair of comfy shoes along with a good quality sketchbook. Annette is not just an accomplished artist, she is an encouraging teacher who also happens to be the best tour guide, bus planner, café connoisseur, reserver of restaurants and much much more! You will never look at Paris in the same way and as a bonus you will meet a special band of brothers. You’ll come home with an extraordinary sketchbook souvenir.
