SUMMARY:Watercolour and sketching essentials: People & Perspective
DESCRIPTION:Join me for this 3 week course to learn more about watercolours and sketching techniques including drawing in perspective\, using ink pens\, how to mix colours and much much more. \nThese short workshops are ideal for beginners\, and if you have some painting experience they are also a great refresher! \nEvery Wednesday morning I’ll be sharing useful tips as we work on a different subject. You will need your own sketchbook but a sketch kit of other materials can be provided on loan if you do not have your own.  In between each workshop will also be a bonus lesson that you can do at home! \nSign up to one workshop or join all 3 – they’ll be friendly\, creative and social! \nClasses will take place in the Capestang/Olonzac area 10am – 12.30pm \n17 January – Taking a line for a walk : A closer look at basic outlines\, drawing with pencil or ink\, and how to develop your drawing style to create striking and confident sketches! \n24 January – Fun with water and colour: Time to explore mixing colours\, controlling watercolour\, where to use colour and much much more!\n31 January – People and perspective: Back to basics with the principles of drawing in perspective and how to include people in your urban sketches and bring them to life! \nIf you would like more details before booking please don’t hesitate to emailme@annettemorris.art ! \nSuggested materials\nYou will need paper or a sketchbook suitable for watercolour (200gsm or higher) \nIn addition I recommend a sketch kit which includes: \n\nPencil\nWatercolour pencils\nWaterproof ink pens/fineliner pens of different sizes (fine\, small\, medium\, brush)\nWatercolours & soft brush (small\, medium\, large)\nClean water\nTissue/paper towel\n\nIf you do not have any of these items sketch kits can be available on loan if required.

SUMMARY:Life in the Slow Lane!  Sketch the Canal du Midi - Sallèles-d'Aude
DESCRIPTION:The Canal du Midi is a UNESCO heritage site which runs right through the heart of Languedoc and the wine-growing area of the Minervois – there are some idyllic and fascinating spaces where you can unwind and watch the barges slowly passing by and sketch in the shade of the trees. \nThese relaxed half-day workshops take place in 5 lesser known locations right alongside the Canal. Each workshop starts at 09.30 giving us a chance to work on our drawings in the cooler part of the day.  You will not need previous art experience to enjoy this event – just an interest in travel sketching with watercolour and learning more about the area! \nStep-by-step you will work through drawing what you see\, and there will be plenty of guidance on mixing colours and adding washes of watercolour to bring your sketch to life.  Each workshop is designed for a small friendly group and packed with arty tips and tricks such as painting reflections\, drawing people and how to plan your sketchbook pages. \nDates & locations: \n\nTuesday 20 June Le Somail\nTuesday 11 July Trèbes\nTuesday 18 July Puicheric\nTuesday 25 July Sallèles-d’Aude\nTuesday 8 August Homps\n\n  \nYou will need a sketchbook\, pencil\, ink pen (waterproof ink)\, watercolours\, water & water pot and tissues/rag. A portable folding chair or stool is strongly advised. \n(For a small additional charge\, a complete sketch kit can be provided on loan) \nPlaces for each workshop are limited – advanced booking is essential.

DESCRIPTION:This workshop takes place at a delightful and well shaded spot to observe & sketch life by the Canal du Midi. \nYou don’t need previous art experience to take part – step-by-step you will learn how to plan your pages and simple ways to work with ink and watercolour on location. \nWorkshop starts 9.30am. \nYou will need a sketchbook with paper 160gsm or higher – which can be purchased on the day if you do not have your own. \nWe will also use a black waterproof ink pen\, HB pencil\, basic watercolour kit\, brush and water pot. \nA portable folding stool is also recommended.
