DESCRIPTION:Ideal for: A weekend away with the girls\, History lovers\, Photographers\, Francophiles\, Foodies \n\nTreat yourself to 3 days sketching in this vibrant\, cultural and historic city – you won’t regret it!  Montpellier is not just one of France’s most sought after destinations\, it offers an incredible amount of sketch subjects – from majestic buildings and classic French architecture to luscious green parks\, street cafés and let’s not forget the food and fabulous wine! \nFor this weekend break we’ll be based in the heart of the city – La Place de la Comédie.  From here we’ll start by getting to grips with some of the basics of sketching on location.  This workshop is ideal for beginners or a great refresher if you’ve already got some drawing or painting experience.  We’ll be exploring the city through our sketches\, learning a whole pack of tips and tricks about perspective\, colour\, adding people to your drawings and of course\, making memories about this incredible area of France! \nThe city is known for being pedestrian and bike-friendly with close to 200 km of paths and a great tram network\, so it’s easy to get around without a car. With an international airport it’s also incredibly accessible from almost anywhere – and you can also catch a high-speed train to or from Paris\, or even drive from London or Barcelona! \n\nWhere to stay: \nI suggest somewhere within walking distance of La Place de la Comédie. DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a short break in this beautiful city and take advantage of a wonderful opportunity to learn from international USk instructor and British artist Ian Fennelly. \nIan will be offering workshops and demonstrations on 5 days from 19-23 September 2022. \nThe workshops start approximately 9.30am where Ian will choose a location and work through the line drawing step by step so everyone can sketch alongside.  There will be a break for lunch\, which can be taken with the group but some people prefer to make their own arrangements.\nAfter lunch\, Ian will help everyone develop and complete their sketches and the workshop will finish approximately 4.30pm.  Ian often then does an additional quick sketching and invites others in the group to work along with him.\n  \nThe cost per person is £75 per day payable in advance. This excludes any meals\, refreshments or transport. \nFor this workshop holiday Ian will be based in Montpellier\, which also has an airport and SNCF train station. DESCRIPTION:Ideal for: A weekend away with the girls\, History lovers\, Photographers\, Francophiles\, Foodies \n\nTreat yourself to a sketching weekend in this vibrant\, cultural and historic city – you won’t regret it!  Montpellier is not just one of France’s most sought after destinations\, it offers an incredible amount of sketch subjects – from majestic buildings and classic French architecture to luscious green parks\, street cafés and let’s not forget the food and fabulous wine! \nFor this weekend break we’ll be based in the heart of the city – La Place de la Comédie.  From here we’ll start by getting to grips with some of the basics of sketching on location.  The Saturday workshop is ideal for beginners or a great refresher if you’ve already got some drawing or painting experience.  We’ll be exploring the city through our sketches\, learning a whole pack of tips and tricks about perspective\, colour\, adding people to your drawings and of course\, making memories about this incredible area of France! \nThe city is known for being pedestrian and bike-friendly with close to 200 km of paths and a great tram network\, so it’s easy to get around without a car. With an international airport it’s also incredibly accessible from almost anywhere – and you can also catch a high-speed train to or from Paris\, or even drive from London or Barcelona! \n\nWhere to stay: \nI suggest somewhere within walking distance of La Place de la Comédie. DESCRIPTION:This workshop offers you the chance to learn some of the basic skills of sketching\, in one of France’s most vibrant cities!    We’ll be exploring life in Montpellier through our sketches\, learning a whole pack of tips and tricks about drawing on location\, materials\, perspective\, colour\, and of course\, enjoying a great day out! \nIdeal for beginners or a great refresher if you’ve already got some drawing or painting experience. \nYou will need a sketchbook (A4 or A5) with min 170gsm paper\, a pencil\, black waterproof fineliner pens and a basic watercolour set\, brush and water pot.  A small portable folding stool is suggested. \nMaterials can be provided on loan if required.  \nWorkshop times 10am – 4pm including a short break for lunch (excluded from the workshop fee) \n

SUMMARY:People in the city - Montpellier
DESCRIPTION:A city without citizens is just an empty shell. But people aren’t easy to capture: they come and go\, keep moving in unexpected ways\, they are just… alive! \nThis workshop with Mat Let is designed to help attendees capture this life and bring it to their drawings. We will go through basic anatomy and then learn how to observe and reproduce poses of models who don’t know they are being sketched. \nWe will learn to capture people and their attitudes in daily life situations and to include them in a bigger sketch to place them in their urban context. \nThe whole workshop will be given in English and French.  There will be a workshop break between 12h30 and 14h00 and the option to lunch with the group or make your own arrangements. \nTo book a spot please send an email to Mat Let directly via letellier.m@gmail.com.
