Join urban sketching instructor and inspirational artist Ian Fennelly for a fabulous week of workshops in the south of France 7-11 September 2026<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

Ian will be teaching in S\u00e8te, on the Mediterranean coast between Montpellier and B\u00e9ziers and often described as the Venice of Languedoc<\/em>.\u00a0S\u00e8te offers an abundance of subjects for Ian’s wonderful art & captivating teaching style.<\/p>\n

Workshop days<\/strong><\/span>
\nIn these workshops Ian will guide you through 1 different sketch subject each day.\u00a0 Usually, the workshop day starts at 9.30am ending at approxiately 5pm. There is a short break for lunch so you can bring a picnic with you or find a local caf\u00e9\/boulangerie<\/em> nearby.<\/p>\n

Materials<\/strong><\/span>
\nYou will need an A3 sketch pad suitable for ink and watercolour – please click here<\/a> for Ian’s preferred list of materials.<\/p>\n

Getting to S\u00e8te<\/strong><\/span>
\nS\u00e8te is easily accessible by train and on the main line from Paris.\u00a0 Local \/ regional airports include Montpellier, B\u00e9ziers, N\u00eemes and Perpignan. Toulouse or Marseille are also options but slightly further away.You can fly direct to B\u00e9ziers with RyanAir or with other airlines to regional airports. S\u00e8te has a central train station<\/a> which serves the high-speed trains from Marseille, Paris, Bordeaux, Toulouse & Perpignan.<\/p>\n

The train station is located by the old fishing port ‘La Pointe Courte’. It is a 10\/15 minute walk into the centre of the city and the main port. There is a regular bus service to and from the station (Gare SNCF) operated by S\u00e8te Agglopole<\/a> and they have an app where you can pre purchase tickets and check timetables.<\/p>\n

Where to Stay<\/span><\/strong>
\nYou will find a wide choice of accommodation<\/a> in S\u00e8te, from 4-star hotels to private apartments and rooms to rent. We recommend staying close to the Passage le Dauphin<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>in the city centre. Passage le Dauphin<\/em>\u00a0(bus stop & shopping arcade) is in the heart of S\u00e8te, situated alongside the Canal Royal and also near the pedestrian area, tourist office and marketplace. If looking for central accommodation, this area is generally recommended where there are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants.<\/p>\n

Cost & Confirmation<\/strong><\/span>
\nThe cost for the week is \u00a3575 which is payable in advance.\u00a0 This includes all 5 workshops with Ian but excludes travel, accommodation and refreshments.
\nIan’s events are very popular and participant numbers are limited. At time of booking a \u00a375 non-refundable deposit is requested to secure your place. To confirm your reservation payment in full is required before 1 March 2026.<\/p>\n
