Chalabre is a small but beautiful medieval town situated deep within Cathar country in the very south west corner of the Aude, Chalabre is the capital of the Quercorb region not far from the Spanish border.\u00a0 Being close to the Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es, this picturesque town benefits from a Mediterranean climate yet with mountain influences.\u00a0 The town has weekly markets, quaint half-timbered houses and impressive stone ch\u00e2teaux.\u00a0 The river ‘Hers-Vif’ flows through Chalabre, adding to the charm with small bridges and riverside paths.<\/p>\n

This weekend workshop offers the chance to discover this fascinating location through sketching in ink and watercolour.\u00a0 Explore and capture the quiet cobblestone & riverside laneways of a medieval town in a historic part of southern France.<\/p>\n

Getting to Chalabre:<\/strong>
\nChalabre is located between Toulouse, Carcassonne and Perpignan airports. Carcassonne is the closest train station which can be reached from Barcelona or Paris. Check out this site for details: https:\/\/en.oui.sncf\/en<\/a><\/p>\n

Where to stay:<\/strong>
\nThe Hotel de France<\/strong><\/a> is extremely central and recommended.
\nAdditionally you will find many apartments and bed and breakfasts within the town centre – see booking.com<\/strong><\/a> for several suggestions<\/p>\n

\nSketchbook with paper suitable for watercolour, Portable sketching stool, Watercolour travel set & watercolour brush, graphite pencil, watercolour pencils, eraser, sharpener<\/p>\n

Additional notes:<\/strong>
\nWe will explore Chalabre on foot, so there will be some walking on uneven surfaces and up and down steps. Please wear appropriate footwear and bring a waterproof in the event of inclement weather.<\/p>\n

\nA 50\u20ac non-refundable deposit will secure your place.\u00a0 For weekend bookings the balance payment is due by 15 August 2025.<\/p>\n
