This is a rather different and very personal kind of \u2018travel sketching\u2019 workshop. No matter which timezone you are in, in a series of 4 \u2018virtual classes\u2019<\/strong> I will work with you on a 1:1 basis via email\/phone\/Zoom\/Skype \u2013 or whatever means is easiest for you (Whatsapp\/Facetime etc).<\/p>\n

To get started you simply need to send me a photograph of a scene that you\u2019d like to sketch*. Typically this will be a street view, a building or landscape and may include people, or vehicles too. It is important you have the rights to use the photo, it is taken in good light, and can be enlarged to show more detail (so at least 1500px wide, ideally, but if you are unsure if the photo is suitable, send it to me<\/a> before booking the workshop and I\u2019ll take a look!).<\/p>\n

Part 1<\/strong> \u2013 we\u2019ll fix a time to go through the photo, why you chose it and how to sketch it, and if applicable I can help you with important elements such as page composition and perspectives. If you are considering framing your sketch, or making it into cards, we can talk about options for that too.<\/p>\n

Part 2<\/strong> \u2013 once you have completed your sketch we\u2019ll go through it together, and I\u2019ll show you my version of the sketch for reference. We can also talk about the colour options and materials recommended for Part 3<\/p>\n

Part 3<\/strong> \u2013 I will apply watercolour to my sketch \u2013 filming it for you on a step by step basis. I\u2019ll send you the private video link, so that you can follow the steps at home in your own time<\/p>\n

Part 4<\/strong> \u2013 we\u2019ll review our finished sketches together and talk about the overall process, the things that worked well and of course the \u2018happy accidents\u2019!<\/p>\n

From start to finish this workshop will take anything from 1-4 weeks, subject to availability. At each stage of this process I\u2019m online and here to help you \u2013 so if you hit a stumbling block you can always contact me for advice.<\/em><\/p>\n
