For this weekend break we’ll be based in the historic village of Montouliers – located in the heart of Languedoc’s Minervois wine-growing region. We’ll start by getting to grips with some of the basics of travel sketching with ink and watercolour – ideal for beginners or a great refresher if you’ve already got some drawing or painting experience. We’ll be exploring the village and surrounding area through our sketches, learning a whole pack of tips and tricks about perspective, colour, journaling and of course, tasting some of the local produce!

The holiday starts on Friday evening with a welcome drink at 6pm. We shall start sketching at 9.30am on Saturday finishing at approximately 4.30pm.  On Sunday we will sketch from 10am through to 1pm and the afternoon is yours to enjoy, relax, explore, or sketch some more!

Where to stay:

La Calade is a newly renovated Chambre d’hôtes with 4 beautiful first floor bedrooms. All rooms have original features and beautiful private bathrooms. There is also a communal kitchen/dining area for guests to prepare their own meals if necessary.

A 100€ deposit will secure your accommodation. The balance is payable by bank transfer 30 days before the holiday starts.

Transport recommendations:
Fly to Béziers, Carcassonne, Perpignan or Montpellier
Closest railway station: Narbonne
We suggest you hire a car but airport pick-up can be arranged if necessary.

What to bring:
Sketchbook, Portable sketching stool, Basic watercolour travel set, Watercolour brush, HB/B/2B pencil, eraser, sharpener. If you need to use a sketch kit on loan, this can also be arranged in advance.

Additional notes:
Montouliers is a hilltop village and there will be some walking up and down steps, so please wear comfortable footwear and bring a waterproof in the event of inclement weather.

Weekend sketching fee: 180€ per person (includes 10 hours sketch tuition, excludes bed and breakfast but exclude other meals, refreshments and transport).
Saturday workshop only: 95€ per person
