DESCRIPTION:Relax and learn to sketch in style aboard a canal cruise boat on the Canal du Midi. \nWe will gently make our way along a beautiful section of the Canal whilst learning some of the essentials of drawing and painting ‘on the move’.  This trip is also a wonderful experience for photographers and non-sketching partners to sit back and discover more about this fascinating UNESCO heritage site. \nJoin us all aboard at 10am.  Your hostess Kate also provides refreshments\, a 3 course delicious lunch and all food and wine is included in the workshop fee. \nYou will need to bring a sketchbook with paper 160gsm or higher – which can be purchased on the day if you do not have your own. \nWe will also use a black waterproof ink pen\, HB pencil\, basic watercolour kit\, brush and water pot.\nA sketch kit can be provided on loan if necessary. \nWe recommend wearing flat comfortable shoes with a rubber sole. \nBookings close 11 September.

SUMMARY:Travel sketching adventure holiday
DESCRIPTION:This creative break is designed to help you capture the very essence of this beautiful area whilst also learning a whole new set of artistic skills. We like to take you slightly off the beaten track too\, meeting local people and visiting our favourite cafes – getting a genuine taste of life as a local in this beautiful corner of France. \nYou’ll have a personalised and authentic experience not only in sketching and art. You’ll be discovering the best local foods and wines and learning about the history of the region. We also make sure you have plenty of opportunities to explore\, shop\, swim and relax in your own time. \nWe welcome anyone of any age\, no previous drawing skills or painting experience needed – just a desire to learn\, have fun and be creative! \nThis 6-night sketchbook adventure will take you through the essentials of travel sketching whilst having a lot of fun! We’ll be sketching the scenery in and around the historic hill-top village of Quarante as well as the Canal du Midi. \nWhy is this a travel sketching adventure? Because we’ll be taking the bus so you won’t even need a car! This will be great fun and sketching on-the-go\, making memories and capturing the essence of those moments in your sketchbook. \nWe’ll focus on observing shapes\, page planning and working fast and loose with watercolour\, how to sketch people and architecture\, perspective\, flowers and nature. \nOur sketching itinerary starts the evening of 6 September. After that we’ll be sketching in the morning from 10am and through lunch on 4 of the days\, giving you one day free to explore the area on your own\, do some more sketching or relax by the private pool. \nWhether you are already sketching or an absolute beginner\, Annette will guide you step-by-step \nSuggested materials?\nSketchbook\, travel watercolour set and brush\, waterproof fineliner pens\, pencil\, waterpot & tissues\, portable stool (a full list of materials will be provided with booking) \nNearest airports?\nBeziers\, Carcassonne\, Montpellier\, Perpignan\, Toulouse \nNearest rail stations?\nNarbonne or Beziers \nCost per student: (4 days tuition approximately 3hrs per day)\n750€ (6 nights bed and breakfast in a double bedroom with private bathroom (single occupancy)) \nPrices exclude meals and snacks. Dinner is available at the B&B by prior arrangement but there is a restaurant within walking distance. Additional night B&B 65€/night.
