SUMMARY:A Roman Sketching Adventure - Nîmes
DESCRIPTION:Discover the ‘Rome’ of France in this 3 day sketching adventure that includes a trip to sketch the stunning Pont du Gard 🤩. \nNîmes is situated between the Mediterranean Sea and Cevennes Mountains\, and later in summer is one of the warmest cities in France. With several famous monuments and ancient Roman buildings\, including the famous Arena\, the city is often referred to as the “French Rome.”  Not only that\, but it has a bustling café culturen classic French architecture and gardens dating back to the 18th century.  It is easy to get to\, with a train station a very short walk from the city centre. \nThis lively and creative weekend is suitable for people with some or no art experience.  Every workshop day is different\, with new techniques and opportunities to learn at every step.  On one of the days we will drive out to Le Pont du Gard\, an impressive aquaduct that used to carry water across the small Gardon river valley.  It is one of the world’s best preserved Roman aqueduct bridges and now a UNESCO world heritage site. \nEach sketching day starts at 9.30am ending approximately 3.30pm after a short break for lunch. \nTransport recommendations:\nFly to Nîmes with Ryanair or Montpellier\, Marseille\, Béziers or Perpignan.\nClosest rail station: Nîmes – which is within walking distance of the city centre \nWhere to stay: \nAnywhere within walking distance of the amphitheatre is a good idea – for example\nOdalys Hotel City\nAppart Hôtel City Nîmes\nHotel de l’Amphitheatre \nWhat to bring:\nSketchbook\, Portable sketching stool\, Basic watercolour travel set\, Watercolour brush\, HB/B/2B pencil\, eraser\, sharpener.  A detailed materials list will be sent with booking confirmation or by request.
