SUMMARY:Colours of Céret & the French Pyrénées - Watercolour Sketching 2027
DESCRIPTION:Céret\, nestled in the foothills of the French Pyrenees is a delightful colourful Catalan town that offers the perfect setting for a sketching weekend! . With its narrow cobbled streets\, brightly painted houses\, shady squares and elegant stone buildings\, Céret is full of character and wonderful subjects to draw and paint. \nThe town has long attracted artists\, most famously Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque\, who spent time here in the early twentieth century and helped shape the development of Cubism. Today\, this artistic heritage lives on at the Musée d’Art Moderne\, while galleries\, studios and the relaxed café culture create an inspiring atmosphere for artists and street musicians. \nFood lovers will appreciate the Catalan cuisine\, plenty of local foods\, tapas and seafood. \nThere is so much here to enjoy and capture in a sketchbook: not to mention a fantastic Saturday market where the streets are filled with fresh produce\, trinkets and handmade crafts. \nWorkshop\nEach day we’ll start sketching at 9.30am\, enjoy a local lunch and then finish around 3.30pm. \nYou will need a sketchbook suitable for watercolour. I use a book with cold press 300gsm paper. My sketch kit includes a 6B pencil\, watercolour pencils\, watercolours\, waterproof ink pens and a small portable folding stool. If you do not have your own materials a spare kit can be available on loan. \n  \nWhere to stay\nThe Hotel Vidal is extremely central but there are many excellent apartments available plus bed and breakfasts including L’Escalivad and Mason d’hôtes La re’belle \n  \nGetting to Céret\nFly to Perpignan\, Barcelona\, Toulouse\, Carcassonne or Girona \nFrom central Perpignan the 530 Ligne 530 – Arles sur Tech > Perpignan : bus runs daily from the Gare Routière to Céret centre (RP du Toreador) between 7am and 7pm. Cost is around 2€ per voyage. Official timetables can be found on the website\nwww.lio-occitanie.fr \n  \nWorkshop prices exclude refreshments\, lunch & accommodation.

SUMMARY:Gorgeous Girona - Travel Sketching September 2027
DESCRIPTION:Girona\, in the heart of Catalonia\, is a wonderfully atmospheric city and an inspiring destination for a short city break. As a city that’s also perfect to discover on foot\, it’s a perfect location for a sketching weekend! \nIts medieval old town is a maze of narrow cobbled streets\, ancient stone walls\, hidden courtyards and colourful houses reflected in the River Onyar. Fans of Game of Thrones may recognise its dramatic medieval streets and grand staircases\, which featured as locations in the HBO TV series. \nThe magnificent cathedral\, elegant bridges and charming squares offer endless opportunities to capture architectural detail\, perspective\, light and local culture. With its lively café scene and relaxed Mediterranean feel\, Girona is a city where we’ll find stories to sketch and great tapas around every corner ! \nThe languages spoken in Girona are Catalan\, French and English (so you won’t need to brush up your Spanish). \nWhere to stay\nYou will be spoilt for choice with hotels and apartments\, but I recommend staying close to the Rambla de la Llibertat – this is the main pedestrian boulevard and historic commercial area of the Old Town (Barri Vell) not far from the tourist office. \nGetting to Girona\nFly to Girona\, Perpignan\, Barcelona or Toulouse\nThe train station is extremely central and within walking distance of the city centre.\nA local taxi service is available from outside the station and the post office (Uber does not operate in Girona).\nThe local bus network is an efficient low cost of getting around the city until about 10pm at night. A map and timetables are available online https://umat.girona.cat/vu/mapa/bus\nFor more details see the Girona App https://web.girona.cat/app \nWorkshop\nEach day we’ll start sketching at 10am\, enjoy a local lunch and then finish around 4pm. \nWorkshop prices exclude refreshments\, lunch\, transport & accommodation.
