SUMMARY:Life in the Slow Lane!  Sketching the Canal du Midi - Le Somail
DESCRIPTION:The Canal du Midi is a UNESCO heritage site which runs right through the heart of Languedoc and the wine-growing area of the Minervois – there are some idyllic and fascinating spaces where you can unwind and watch the barges slowly passing by and sketch in the shade of the trees. \nThese relaxed half-day workshops take place in 5 lesser known locations right alongside the Canal. Each workshop starts at 09.30 giving us a chance to work on our drawings in the cooler part of the day.  You will not need previous art experience to enjoy this event – just an interest in travel sketching with watercolour and learning more about the area! \nStep-by-step you will work through drawing what you see\, and there will be plenty of guidance on mixing colours and adding washes of watercolour to bring your sketch to life.  Each workshop is designed for a small friendly group and packed with arty tips and tricks such as painting reflections\, drawing people and how to plan your sketchbook pages. \nYou will need a sketchbook\, pencil\, ink pen (waterproof ink)\, watercolours\, water & water pot and tissues/rag. A portable folding chair or stool is strongly advised. \n(For a small additional charge\, a complete sketch kit can be provided on loan) \nPlaces are limited – advanced booking is essential.

DESCRIPTION:Come and join me in Paris for a wonderful few days of watercolour\, travel sketching and sightseeing in the most popular city in the world! \nExplore the city of light with your sketchbook – the mood\, the pace and the colours will be bright!  In this action-packed weekend I’ll show you some of my favourite places to sketch where we can capture special moments in line and in colour.  This is an incredible experience for sketchers of any level of experience. \nI recommend staying in the 5th arrondissement of Paris – it’s a fabulous but quieter location which gives us access to many of the best sites for sketching. \nWe start on Friday evening with some warm-up sketches before heading out into the city on Saturday morning. I suggest you have comfortable shoes for walking and a sketch kit which includes both an A4 sketchbook for watercolour and pocket sized book for quick drawings & notes.
